Tribal Societé

Posted by Leslie in Escapes

Tribal Societe Jewelry When it’s cold outside it’s a constant challenge to find new things to photograph and there are only so many pictures I can take of Mickey.

Tribal Societe JewelryBut my friend Tatiana recently joined the company Tribal Societé.  This dynamic company offers a variety of environmentally friendly jewelry and accessories made by artisans of tribal villages around the world.

Tribal Societe JewelryThese artisanal finds stem from designers in Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, El Salvador, Peru and Thailand.

Tribal Societe

The colors and textures of the jewelry are stunning and the use of natural materials as Tagua and Acai make these designs truly unique.

Tribal Societe Jewelry

The Tagua nut comes from palm trees, known as ivory palms or tagua palms, found in South America. It is eco-friendly, sustainable, durable and light weight. Jewelry handcrafted from tagua is absolutely stunning whether in natural tagua ivory or dyed. Tagua furthers important environmental and socioeconomic goals by stimulating local economies in South America, providing an alternative to destroying rain-forests and preventing elephants from being killed for their ivory tusks.  The brilliance of Tagua can be seen in the piece below.

Tribal SocieteTribal Societé jewelry can be purchased direct from their e-commerce site or from select boutiques around the country.  As a globally inspired company a portion of sales are donated to The Global Fund for Women.

And if you or someone you know is interested in starting their own business Tribal Societe offers trunk show kits that allow you to become your own reseller of the jewelry.

Tribal Societe JewelryMy photos were shot with a homemade studio and the help of some low cost supplies from – Home Depot – not bad!

Tribal Societe JewelryIf you haven’t yet purchased your Valentine’s Day gifts I hope these images inspire you to shop at Tribal Societé.

Enjoy!

Urgent Kitty Needs A Foster Home

Posted by Leslie in Escapes, New York

Just Waking Up A few people have been asking me about the family of kittens and their beautiful mom that I posted about in November.

Mom & Kitties Call to ActionI’m happy to share that all five kittens and mom have been adopted by a caring and generous NYC couple.

However, one more kitty was discovered and a foster home is urgently needed.  I don’t have pictures but this youngster looks like his mom – a silver tabby.

Watching Mom

Please forward this post to everyone you know and help this little one find a temporary home while an adoptive home is secured.

Watchful Mom

If you have other cats this youngster will be tested (FIV/FELV, fleas, etc) and spray/neutered before being introduced to the home.  Plus, a litter box, scoop, litter, and food will be provided to the home.

Inquiries can be sent to Leslie@TheL-List.com.

Thank you for your help!

Bike Benefit in Brooklyn

Posted by Leslie in Bicycling

Bicycle Series

I wanted to wish a happy 15th birthday celebration to the organization Recycle-A-Bicycle.

Recycle-A-Bicycle is a community-based bike shop and non-profit organization that partners with New York City public schools to provide education and job training programs to NYC youth.  Through programs such as Earn-A-Bike, Ride Club, Cycle Craft, and the Summer Youth Employment Program, RAB teaches young people the importance of cycling, recycling and more.

Bicycle Series

To celebrate their 15th birthday I have donated three framed bike series photos that will be auctioned at their Annual Benefit Auction

Monday, December 14th 200, 6:00pm – 9:00pm

at Superfine: 126 Front Street in Dumbo, Brooklyn

If you are in the market for a bike, twelve orange NY400 Batavus Bicycles were generously donated to Recycle-A-Bicycle by the Government of the Netherlands and will be auctioned and raffled off at the benefit.

I won’t be in New York for the event but I encourage you to attend and kick start your holiday shopping with the purchase of a bike or bike themed artwork, as jewelry, lamps and more.

Admissions start at $20 and all proceeds directly support Recycle-A-Bicycle’s youth and environmental programming.

Enjoy and Happy Shopping!
