Les Vacances Françaises

Posted by Leslie in South of France

IMG_0866 I have been traveling to France for more than 20 years, starting as a student and continuing for work or vacations ever since.

There is a lot to appreciate about France and the French, but out of everything there is to appreciate my favorites are the food and the vacations.Window

Eating well and vacationing in France is an art and being equipped with the right team to relax, enjoy and profiter des bons endroits (to take full advantage of the right places) is key.

The Team

I am very lucky, I have a great team.  For the past 8 years Claudine, Marie-Pierre (better known as Mapi) and I have been vacationing together in France.

Coordinated by Claudine, the initial goal of the vacation was to help me discover more of France and depayser (submerge) me in diverse regions of France and French culture.

Cafe

Today our trips are about eating, relaxing, laughing, gossiping and enjoying our time together in a region of France where we are almost certain there will be few clouds and a minimum temperature of 80F.

Claud & Les

This year the team and I returned to the south, to the region of Provence, for a few perfect days of culture, relaxation, laughter and pure enjoyment.

If you have never visited the south of France I hope these pictures help transport you for a little escape of your own.

Enjoy!

The Unemployment Column

Posted by Leslie in Escapes

CappuccinoI have recently joined the ranks of the unemployed and couldn’t resist talking about it.

Understandably, being unemployed can be scary.  Most people want to hide under the covers and cry.  I say, “Bring it on…new opportunities await!”

I have my moments of worry but for me being unemployed is an opportunity to reconnect with people, work on personal projects and share some of life’s little enjoyments…all while searching for the next job.

One of the most surprising little enjoyments I discovered was making a few calls to save money on my monthly bills.  Granted, not as exotic as finding a café with panini and tiramisu that transport you to Italy with one mouthwatering bite but definitely a tip worth sharing. Panini

Who wouldn’t enjoy saving money on monthly telephone, cable and garage expenses?  I did a dance.

This tip may not be for everyone but if you have the motivation and time to make a few phone calls you may also find yourself doing a dance with a little extra cash in your pocket.

Smile and enjoy!

Launch Party!!!

Posted by Leslie in Escapes

Welcome to the launch party of The L-List!!!

Breakfast “The L-List” is the new version of my blog, formerly known as “L-List”.  For those of you who never visited my original blog you can still visit the site at www.l-list.com.

Why the change in format…simple, customer complaints.  Visitors were requesting a more interactive format and with more time on my hands the creative itch to write and photograph has been budding.  IMG_5951

The original blog was created in 2006 as a way to share my travels with friends and family.  But over time the best part of the blog was offering a moment of enjoyment (and possibly some serious hunger pains) to friends and family who would in turn share it with others, especially groups of colleagues.

Today The L-List will still be Leslie’s list but its soul will be about daily escapes and ideas to enjoy life a little more.

FriendsSo please RSVP to my launch party by subscribing via RSS or via email for site updates and subscribe to newsletters so I can communicate with you directly.

So escape, smile and enjoy!

Leslie

Remember, subscribing via RSS or Email feeds will alert you immediately to new postings, subscribing to newsletters will allow me to communicate with you directly from the site.  Roma
